The Cutest Way to Style a Pixie Cut

Blonde Pixie Undercut Detail

Q&A with the style creator, Giorgio

Hairstylist in Italy

What would you say about this style?

It’s a very short cut that has a smooth shave on the sides and nape. In the upper section is a bowl of modern design with both short and long hair.

Do you have any suggestions for someone who is thinking about this?

It’s not for all. It’s recommended for those who have a thin appearance and a young and active girl.

Beautiful Blonde Pixie

Beautiful Blonde Pixie

Q&A with the style creator, Mikaela Balzer

Stylist @ Brian Graham Salon in Minneapolis MN

What would you say about this style?

This is one of my favorite looks of mine : this blonde, smooth pixie that has fringe. It adds softness and movement to hair and can be versatile when it comes to hair styling. The fringe is a bit of a swish and gives an illusion of length and can be worn in a downward direction, to the side as well as pulled in a back. You can wear it messy or smooth, and everywhere between. The thing I love about this style is the variety of design. It is possible to keep the fringe up and have an incredibly soft, romantic feel or pull it back to create a more edgy style, or smooth it down to create an elegant look. There are endless options!

The blonde is a great addition to the texture of the hair and gives it dimension , which is crucial when cutting a pixie. You can observe the individual pieces and the movement. The blonde was created by applying a coat of hair from the scalp in order to preserve the length of the roots and provide an easy way to grow.

Anyone have any advice for those who are considering this?

This cut can be used for all hair kinds. My model is medium-length hair that is fine in texture. Hair that is coarse and thick might require some length to aid in the styling control. This kind of fringe is able to be worn on all types of faces and can be easily adapted to your personal style while maintaining a pixie-like feel.

In styling this style, I applied a heat protector from ends to roots and added the blow-dry-activated texture spray. I dried the entire hair’s back to the way I intended it laid and then added volume at high-points by drying roots to the upwards. The fringe was dried on the opposite side of where it was to lay on to give it a soft volume when hairstyled. The style was completed with dry texture spray as well as some twirling.

Pixies are a lot of fun and offer many styles, because they are easily adapted to suit the individual and provide a great method to show off your individuality.

The most beautiful Pixie with Wispy Bangs

Short Choppy Pixie with Wispy Bangs and Highlights

Q&A with style designer, Jason Nash

Haircutting Specialist / Art Director @ Douglas J Salon in Okemos, MI

What would you say about this style?

This style is a gentle classic pixie, with an element of Mariah’s character added to it. I wanted to alter the look to match Mariah’s style and complement the shape of her face.

I think that your hair should be an extension of your character and personality. A softly cut that has just enough texture that allows the wearer to have many hairstyle options.

I’d say that my favourite thing about the design is how it enhances not just Mariah’s personality, but also her face shape. It’s true that there aren’t all people with the perfect face shape. The pleasure of a haircut is one thing, but coming up with the right lengths and shapes that are suitable for the face’s shape is the key between a good haircut and one that is good.

Anyone have any advice for those who are considering this?

I’d strongly suggest that they ensure that they’ve got the appropriate hairdresser for their job. Do you have a hairdresser who is a designer or groomer? It’s huge distinction.

Someone who knows the structure of bones and facial form and, most important, knows the person you are as an individual. What is your style and what’s your ideal care schedule, and what’s your requirements? In terms of products, I prefer less A cream with a lighter texture or soft hold wax works excellent for providing versatility and hold , without the need for hair sprays that are bulletproof.

Q&A with the style creator, Presley Marie Poe

Hairstylist @ The Parlour in Portland, OR

What would you say about this look ? What’s your most favorite part about it?

The pixie-inspired style is a combination of soft and hard lines that create an appearance that is feminine and the strength.

What I like about a good short cut is that it really encourages people to look at the face that it frames before actually looking at the hair itself, which draws more emphasis on the beauty of the face, not just the thing that’s framing it.

What are the products you would recommend to help you create and maintain this style?

To create this look I employed Pravana Twist fiber that is flexible to increase the texture and enhance shine.

To maintain your home Pravana Vivids Shampoo and Conditioner are crucial to keep the color’s vibrancy. Always ensure that you wash your hair in cold water!

What kind of person would this style work best for?

This is a hairstyle that is for the gorgeous and bold. A striking haircut is sure to call for a bold and confident personality! This shade, in particular is best with the skin tone with cooler undertones. However, by changing the shade, this style can be worn by anyone with any skin tone!

A pixie-bowl cut that is soft and slender is ideal for those who live an busy or special occasion lifestyle. It’s great for looking polished and stylish while staying away from your fitness routine.

What’s your top tip for someone considering this style?

Be aware that while pretty hairstyles such as this are certainly less work-related every day, they will need cut your hair a little more often. It’s wonderful to feel the breeze on your neck during a cold day, and it’s great to avoid getting your hair tangled up in objects!

You can try a style like this with a more textured to create a more softer look, and request your stylist to create natural nape rather than an aggressive line for an edgier look.

The style is a fun rendition of the Edie Sedgwick “it girl” style. The colour is inspired by the latest fashions in metals and steels. I like how sturdy and effortless this look appears.

What would you say about this look ? What’s the most appealing thing about it?

This is a Michelle Williams-inspired pixie hairstyle.

What products do you suggest to help you create and maintain this style?

It is possible to use a variety of different styles based on how classic or spunky you’d like to make this appear. It’s not the most elegant but it’s actually an extremely versatile style. My favorite for this style is the Mannequin Styling Paste from R+Co. Apply it to towel dried hair, then blow dry it to add volume and grit. Place it in dry hair for that smooth, bouncy texture or both!

Who is the type of person this look be most appropriate for?

I would recommend this style on someone fashionable or fun, and is active. I’d prefer more of a diamond or heart face shape. I love a pixie if you’re trying to highlight the cheekbones of a person and both face shapes add a lot to this.

What’s your most effective suggestion for someone who’s thinking about this style or owns it?

I would say that 90% of the fun in having short hair is having the attitude and self-confidence to do it, and not worry about what other people think about it. When I cut my hair in half I was like a 12- years young boy…because it felt as if I was one. Then, I decided to embrace the new look and put on a lipstick and wore it with confidence and was in the love of my cute short locks. The hair I have now is longer for a change, and whenever I talk about cutting it, people rave at how they enjoyed cutting the short cut.

Find a stylist who is knowledgeable about short hair for women. The smallest of details could make your hair look masculineor feminine and make an enormous difference.

Sassy short cut with bangs

Q&A session with the creator of style, Lynzee Corbett

Stylist @ Salon Luxe in Claremont, CA

What would you say about this style and what’s your most favorite part about it?

This style is a re-imagining of my personal favorite short hairstyles that were worn by Mia Ferro in Rosemary’s Baby and Twiggy. The thing I love about a cut such as this one is the fact that it can end appearing more feminine than if the hair of the client was longer!

Which products would you suggest to help you create and maintain this style?

I am in love with I love the Davines line. I shampooed my hair using Your Hair assistant prep shampoo and the mild cream conditioner. This is a wonderful cleansing and conditioning combination that doesn’t weigh your hair down. I finished it off with This is A Dry Texturizer. I’ve been really into using dry sprays for finishing short hair recently to give it an almost fur-like, matte texture. It’s also simpler for customers to apply at home.

What kind of person would this style work best for?

Everybody can have short hair. It’s all about your personality. The woman who has her hair cut short is bold, confident, playful and adventurous, and practical. The style can be customized to suit any face shape. Looking all the way back to Mia as well as Twiggy, Mia has a extremely short fringe, and Twiggy has longer, side hairline, which creates the same style, but adapting to their unique facial forms. The low hairlines and the pear-shaped face shapes can be a little of an obstacle, but they’re isn’t difficult! In all times, it’s all pure character and grace that takes the edge off the short hair.

What’s your most effective advice to someone who’s thinking about this style?

I like that it enhances the lustrous-ness of this style without making it appear too sticky or gritty. For this style I applied Clay Definer in while the hair was damp and then I then blow-dried it to form. It’s more pliable to mould into especially when you’re an expert when it comes to your hair.

The most appealing aspect of this haircut and the reason I get requests for similar styles or similar is the comfort of wear. It’s simple to style and maintain. What would you say about this look ? What’s your most favorite part about it?

My favorite part about this dress is that it has an asymmetrical design while being feminine. This particular guest is a fan of keeping her sides neat and she also is able to have body and versatility thanks to the length and layers on the longer side.

What products do you suggest to help you create and maintain this style?

In this style We shaved Angelique to white-blonde all over. While her natural shade is light, there was some hair that required a little attention. I suggest Paul Mitchell’s Ultimate Color Repair Triple Rescue to strengthen your hair using the extract of quinoa, shields against damage from heat, and seals the cuticle to stop fade in color.

Who is the type of person this style work best for?

This is ideal for medium hair types that aren’t overly curly. Asymmetrical hairstyles aren’t for everyone, so I suggest this for people who love to play with their hair and one who’s professional in the field of artistic art.

What’s your top tip for someone considering this style?

Be sure that your stylist explains the correct blow drying process to keep your hair stunning. I utilized Paul Mitchell’s 413 hairbrush using hair dryer Neuro Grip blow dryer and straight-wrapped the hair before using an iron for smoothing to create curls.

fake-hawk fade with Purple Highlights

Faux-hawk fade with purple highlights

Q&A session with style creator Mahri Jones

Owner+Hair Maven @ Parlor Salon in Richmond, VA

What do you think of this style and what’s the most appealing thing about it?

It’s a punk-influenced, faded and disjointed faux-hawk! I am awestruck by how strong and bold it is, but it keeps its softness around the edges. My cutting style of late was inspired by strong lines and subtle details. I love blurring the distinction of “masculine” as well as “feminine”.

What products do you suggest to create and sustain this style?

Before applying any other product, I ALWAYS recommend a color protector and heat that provides moisture. My personal favorite is Unite’s Seven Seconds Detangler. Following that, I apply products to boost the root and provide hold from the root, like the Unite Expanda Volume (adding in Expanda Dust to give hair with finer texture that requires more lift). It is then recommended to use pomades to layer out into the desired shape. At the moment, I’m enjoying a mixture with R+Co’s Badlands and Continental. Make sure you finish with a powerful hold hairspray (I make use of Vicious from R+Co) and you’re good to go!

Who is the type of person this look be most appropriate for?

This style is perfect designed for the creative individual who is confident about their style. Someone who wants to stand out without appearing like an adolescent. Someone who has a story to relate.

What’s your most effective advice to someone who’s thinking about this style?

Begin slow and establish your own rules. If you’re sure you’re the kind of person who does not handle change well Don’t jump into a look similar to this! Begin with a shorter fade before moving towards a more streamlined fade and finally, you can start playing with the shapes. My inspiration comes from the contours and the form of the head.

What is your best tip in regards to recreating/maintaining this color/style?

I didn’t apply the color, however should I have I would suggest using an anti-color protectant as well as a colored conditioner (made by your professional stylist or colorist) to ensure the color throughout appointments.

Q&A with style designer, Ivis Hernandez

Hair Artist @ Against The Grain in Spring, TX

What would you say about this style? What’s your most favorite part about it?

It’s an undercut style with shadow roots and hand-painted highlights from balayage. The things I love about this cut is that it’s extremely easy to style and is quick and it’s a bit versatile. It’s a short cut however it looks extremely sexy and flirty.

What products do you suggest to create and keep this style?

I suggest a texture cream prior to blow drying, and then spraying wax, dry shampoo or even pomade (but no sticky) to highlight the texture and size of hair. Make sure to finish by using a light to medium effective hairspray.

Who is the type of person this style be most appropriate for?

If you are choosing a color, select shades that complement the skin tone of the person. Medium or medium-to-fine hair is ideal for this cut. Wavy, straight or curly hair may all be styled with this look It’s all about the amount of time they are willing to invest in their styling.

Oval, square , and heart faces wear a shorter fashion, but so long as you’ve got the confidence and character to match, everyone can wear it.

It is important to realize that even though this is a low-maintenance hairstyle at home, it’s more difficult to maintain in the salon. I suggest short hair like this to visit the salon every five to six weeks to ensure maintenance. Selecting the right products for styling is also important to think about.

Impressive Silver With Side Swept Bangs

Chin Length textured bob cut With Side Swept Bangs

Hairstylist @ Rendezvous Hair Salon in Columbus, OH

What would you say about this style and what’s the most appealing thing about it?

This is a stunningly elegant short hairstyle which is not only elegant, but also very low-maintenance. The thing I love about it is its flexibility. It’s long enough at the front that it can be worn sideways or in a pompadour waving, or with no fashion whatsoever. It is extremely appealing to guests due to many reasons.

Which products would you suggest to create and keep this style?

I strive to adhere to the notion that the majority of styles can be achieved by using just three products. For this particular look I utilized Kenra Blow Dry Spray. This spray helps guard against extreme heat and cut drying time to half. The spray also leaves hair looking shiny and easily manageable. The other product I used to achieve this style can be found in Moroccanoil Light. I applied this to ensure that hair of the client would not just feel silky however, it also helped heal her hair that was lightened both from inside and out. The final product I employed was the Moroccanoil Dry Texture Spray. It is my absolute favorite of products for texture. It’s not too heavy, and it creates beautiful texture in hair and smells amazing!

What kind of person would this style work best for?

This style is stunning on a variety of clients. My main goal as stylist is to allow every guest to be the most confident person they can be and to be the best version of themselves, every time. This is all style demands. Confidence! It doesn’t matter the type of hair you have, facial shape or skin tone, nor does it matter what your lifestyle.

Smokey Pastel Colors

Smokey pastel colors

Interview with Style Creator Elissa Wolfe

Hairstylist @ Axis Hair Salons in Vancouver, BC

What would you say about this style and what’s the most appealing thing about it?

This is a beautiful smokey pastel with an oversized Pixie. I love this style because of the motion in the color as well as the layers that are longer above. I believe this is one of the most versatile styles cut that a shorter crop could be and also have fun colors too!

What products do you suggest to help you create and maintain this style?

I utilized Joico Metallics for the pastels. However, any dye that is a direct or semi-permanent color that is mixed with conditioner will work! I suggest a volumizer prior to blow drying for motion and a texturizer afterwards to ruin the layers after they are dry.

What kind of person would this style work best for?

Hair of medium to fine density is perfect in this haircut! All skin tones can be paired with these colors due to the metallic undertone of the pastels. They are suitable for any skin tone! I believe this cut requires a strong personality in order to achieve the impact that the cut and the color create. It’s fun , but also professional. Therefore, anyone can pull it off whether at school, at work or any other place!

What’s your top tip for someone considering this style?

I would suggest conducting an experiment with hair strands prior to creating pastels because they require lots of lightening before. A clean, straight blonde base is ideal for these pastels! If you’re looking to get chopped hair, ensure that you choose the most versatile style. Make sure you keep length at the front and the top to provide plenty of hairstyle options.

Edgy Messy Pixie Cut

Edgy Blonde Messy Pixie Cut

Q&A with the Style Creator Jennifer Giancaterino

Hairstylist @ Renaissance Salon in St.Catharines, Ontario

What do you think of this look ? What’s the most appealing thing about it?

This style is extremely edgy and fun. There’s a lot of texture in this cut , which creates a more bouncy and an exciting look. The thing I love with this style is the fact that it is a lot of versatility in the styling. It is possible to achieve a smooth style or a more rough and full-bodied appearance. Another advantage of this style is that you can choose from a range of shades to make it even more unique.

What products do you suggest to create and sustain this style?

In this style it is necessary to apply pomades or any other kind of paste to enhance the texture of the appearance. In our salon, we create our own products, which we call Acina. First I tried the product Flexy which is an ingredient that creates density and gloss. The other product I tried is a pomade named Rough from Ancina Then I added Supershine hairsprays from Oribe to hold the style on the right track.

Who is the type of person this style work best for?

This kind of style will be ideal for anyone attracted to being imaginative in their haircut. All skin tones are suitable for this cut , as it is able to be in line with their skin tone. This lady has finer hair however, when you cut hair with finer texture shorter, it makes the hair to appear more dense and larger. Being creative is a good thing in this style since it’s fun and stylish.
