How would you describe this look?

This look is natural with a vintage flair. My absolute favorite thing about it is how the fringe separates and looks as if she ran her fingers through and walked out into a hot day ready for whatever.

Any advice for someone considering it?

Be open to wearing longer fringe and don’t overthink styling the cut. Just give the hair a few waves using a flat iron in a rocking motion in random parts off of the interior. It takes away from the 70’s feel if the bangs are too precise and the body and texture are too uniform.

11. Shaggy Bob with Bangs

Shaggy Bob with Bangs

Q&A with style creator, Jennie Rose

Hairstylist / Owner @ Haus of Wonderland in Huntington Beach, CA

How would you describe this look?

This look has a modern vintage vibe to it. We loved the 90’s bob because it was classic with a grungy, textured twist. I picture Winona Ryder in the 90’s.

What I like most about this look is it pushes the boundaries on what is considered sexy. People tend to associate sexy with long Victoria’s Secret waves but this style screams just as much sex appeal.

Any advice for someone considering it?

This style is a lot more relaxed and doesn’t require a lot of work, so it’s good for the clients who like a wash and go look but on weekends you can really play up the texture. You’ll want a good dry shampoo, texture spray, and a 1-inch wand or flat iron to help create the perfect textured waves.

12. Medium Shaggy Bob

Medium Shaggy Bob

Instagram @joeltorresstyle

Q&A with style creator, Joel Torres

TIGI Creative Director in Dallas, TX

How would you describe this look?

This is a textured undercut bob. The idea was removing weight from below the occipital bone to promote movement on the perimeter.

This textured bob I created first by establishing the length then doing soft layers and personalization techniques with a razor. The razor is good to create a natural feeling and movement.

I also did a fringe on the model because I wanted to create a frame around her beautiful eyes.

This cut is easy to maintain thanks to the personalization techniques.

Any advice for someone considering it?

First, I think it’s important to do a consultation with your stylist. If a client doesn’t have a good density of hair then the undercut is not a good fit. You can create the same haircut without the undercut part.

Second, if the texture is too frizzy I wouldn’t do it with the razor and choose scissors instead.

Products are an important part to maintain the look. Use something that can control the hair and give you separation on the ends, like leave-in conditioners, dry shampoos, styling cream.

For the face shape: For a client with a really small face or small forehead, I recommend to avoid the fringe because that would make the face even smaller. Other shapes go really well with the cut.

How would you describe this look?

This look is a razor cut shag with a full fringe. I used Davines Liquid Spell and diffused her hair to bring out her soft natural texture. I love shag haircuts for their effortlessly cool vibe.

Any advice for someone considering it?

A shag haircut looks best on wavy to curly hair that’s medium to fine thickness.

It’s an effortless and low maintenance haircut. I usually recommend a mousse or cream gel to air dry or diffuse the hair, working with the natural texture.

14. A Must-Try Shag for Thin Hair

A Must-Try Shag for Thin Hair

Instagram @kaylyn_walborn_hair

Q&A with style creator, Kaylyn Walborn

Master Stylist @ Barnet Fair Hair in Philadelphia, PA

How would you describe this look?

This look is a textured shag with a choppy fringe. The look was achieved with both shear and straight razor to emphasize the client’s texture. What I like most about the cut is, of course, the fringe. It’s fun and has a striking look just by itself when the hair is pulled away from the face.

Any advice for someone considering it?

The greatest part about this shape is that most people with wavy hair and/or love volume will find this look very flattering. It’s generally easily styled with a wave or salt spray and can be air dried for an awesome effect. Also, the cut grows out quite well and turns into fun new looks as it gets longer. Upkeep on the fringe is more prevalent but it can be worn in a longer shape as it grows out.

15. Shaggy Bob Haircut

Q&A with style creator, Anna Peters

Owner / Stylist @ re:Treat Color + Hair Design Studio in Clovis, CA

How would you describe this look?

This Rose Quartz tousled bob is a favorite because its effortless feel and undone texture ups the cool factor for a short bob length cut. The blushing color will catch your eye, and it’s soft enough that anyone can wear it.

I created this cut using my Sam Villa 7″ Dry Cutting Shears to carve through the hair and create the texture seen here. Then using the Sam Villa 2-in-1 Marcel Iron and Wand, I did a lazy wrap around the wand to achieve a loose undone wave to the hair. Finished it off with Redken Wax Blast 10 for definition and hold.

The color was achieved using Redken Lightner Up To 7 to pre-lighten the hair. Then colored over it was Pravana’s Rose Quartz hair color.

Any advice for someone considering it?

It works great for any face shape, depending on where you part the hair and where the layers are placed. The color is high maintenance and fades faster than darker hues, so make sure you are using a professional color protecting shampoo and conditioner.

This haircut works great for clients who have a natural curl or texture to their hair. When curling your hair, keep it very relaxed and don’t try too hard. Use a texture spray to play it up and get volume and texture.

16. Shaggy Blunt Bob

Shaggy blonde blunt bob

Instagram @brittanyrosset.hair

Q&A with style creator, Brittany Rosset

Owner / Colorist @ The Beauty Room in Minneapolis, MN

How would you describe this look?

There is a lot to consider when getting a bob. Layers, bangs, concave, or blunt! For this one, we wanted no layers and super blunt which was opposite of her previous razor cut, and it was very fun to create the blunt line.

Any advice for someone considering it?

If your someone who hates not being able to get their hair all the way up, you probably aren’t ready for a bob. But if you can settle for a cute half top knot then you’re in luck! I love texture in a bob to give it a different vibe.

Sleek is so classic, but I just love how different these two styles can make this cut look. For this specific client, we did a rooted heavy blonde foil and I love the texture it gave her natural hair. She also needed a color that grew out well with the perks of being a blonde.

17. 70’s Shaggy Lob Cut

A 70s shag lob cut

Instagram @haircutsbylacyjward

Q&A with style creator, Lacy J. Ward

Cutting Specialist / Senior Stylist @ Wild Orchid Salon + Spa in Austin, TX

How would you describe this look?

A modern 70’s Shag-Lob with Tropical Sherbet Color vibes. Her hair didn’t have the thickness to go full shag but the lob (shorter in back, longer in front) helped create the fullness her fine hair lacks, while still giving it some shag-like texture. My favorite thing about this hairstyle is the texture and movement – it really compliments that amazing hair color (by Chelsea Knight-King) so well!

Any advice for someone considering it?

My best styling advice would be to use products made for texture and volume, but not so heavy that it weighs the hair down. I personally love No. 4’s Sugar Spray. Any mousse or thickening spray, (R+Co Chiffon or Number 4 Styling Foam) blown out with a round brush for finer hair, or Mason Pearson brush for thicker hair, is great. This haircut is super versatile both curled or straight!

Sunkissed Shaggy Bob for a Round Face

Instagram @hairbycelinamarie

Q&A with style creator, Celina Trevino

Stylist & Redken Artist/Educator @ Brock Cassidie Salon in Atlanta, GA

How would you describe this look?

This is what I would call a lived-in bob. The thing I love most about this look is that it is very clean and chic for any women of any age.

Any advice for someone considering it?

This is a look for the girl that needs low maintenance but wants style. The sunkissed color is a color that only needs to be retouched every three to four months. The cut works great for a round face shape.

To style this look, just blow dry using a vent brush and put in a couple of loose waves. The best way to achieve a messy wave is to curl only the middle and leave your ends straight. Sometimes will curl in the middle and use a flat iron to straighten the ends for more messy, textured effect.

I use Redken’s Powder Grip cocktailed with Redken’s Diamond Oil to give the hair texture and shine. Finish it off with Redken’s Triple Take 32 hairspray and voila, you have a messy, textured, sunkissed bob!

20. Modern Medium Length Shagged Haircut

A modern shag

Instagram @gracefilipowiczhai

Q&A with style creator, Grace Filipowicz

Education Assistant Director @ Jose Luis Salon in Austin, TX

How would you describe this look?

So the best way to describe this look is that it’s the more modern version of the classic shag. My favorite thing about this haircut is that it’s pretty universally flattering on any face shape and any age.

Any advice for someone considering it?

This is such an easy haircut to style with loose waves and looks super cute if you just air-style with a little mousse.

My advice to someone wanting this haircut is to always take into consideration how much layering you are comfortable with. You can always try a more toned down version to start with and gradually add more layers for clients who are hesitant.

Air-styling with a texturizing mousse (like Kerastase Mousse Bouffant) is quick and low maintenance way to style this effortless haircut. It’s a great cut for women on the go.

21. Multi-dimensional Wavy Shag

Cool multi-dimensional waves

Instagram @datstrangestyler

Q&A with style creator, Jed Styler

Creative Stylist @ TONYC Salon and Spa Square One in Mississauga, ON

How would you describe this look?

I would describe this look as multi-dimensional waves. We basically used different techniques to create dimension that shows off different waves of shades.

My favorite thing about this look is that it’s not just a boring color! It has so much dimension that it qualifies on any lighting you are facing!

Any advice for someone considering it?

Healthy hair, patience, products, and consultation! I cannot stress how important a good consultation is! This color will look best when your hair has a lot of layers. That’s where the beautiful dimensions really pop out the most! I did a modern shag haircut on my client. There is a lot of texture and movement in the front while keeping the layers in the back a little bit longer.

The great thing about this look is that once the hair starts getting longer, the color will still look great because of all the dimension. The maintenance on this look is low. Th next service will mostly just be adding some more babylights for a brighter area around the face and the back to create more dimension.

Finish off this look with some beachy waves or what I like to call “after curls”. Work in different directions as you are curling the hair. Once you’re finished curling, finish it off with a bit of serum and dry shampoo. I like to spray far away from the hair and really separate the curls with my hands to visualize the look. I use dry shampoo because it gives the look more of a matte finish while also giving volume and a grunge finish.

22. Aqua Messy Shag with Short Layers

An edgy aqua messy shag haircut

Instagram @raylakehair

Q&A with style creator, Raven Lake

Hairstylist / Barber / Colorist @ Floyd’s 99 Mosaic in Fairfax, VA

How would you describe this look?

This is a messy shag that maintains long length but very short layers.

My favorite thing about this look is the TEXTURE! This look was super fun to cut using a precision concave layering technique, then going back in with a razor to remove even more weight and define pieces.

Any advice for someone considering it?

This look works best on average to thick densities of hair, especially naturally wavy hair. My client has very dense hair, so she was looking for a lot of weight removal. If the client’s hair is very fine, this much layering can create a stringy look in the length. With fine hair, we always want to maintain density in the length.

Here I created wavy texture with a flat iron to enhance the color and cut. However, this cut holds up well without heat styling, especially on naturally wavy hair. For products, I recommend anything with a little volume and texture. My personal favorites right now are Floyd’s 99 Texture Powder, which is a non-aerosol dry shampoo with hold for bigger volume, as well as IGK Beach Club texture spray for gentle volume with a little hold.

23. Modern-Day Mid-Length Shag Cut

Modern-Day Mid-Length Shag Cut

Instagram @doreencrider

Q&A with style creator, Doreen Mansour Crider

Salon Manager / Stylist / Colorist @ Saulino Smith Salon in Santa Monica, CA

How would you describe this look?

The cut is a modern-day beachy look with textured shag-like layers and a textured fringe. The length itself is slightly cut from short to long with some disconnection in the front, leaving the two front corners looking longer. The color is a beigey neutral blonde achieved through babylights and balayage while maintaining dimension with a natural rooted look.

My favorite thing about this look is how natural the color appears and how the cut can be worn undone/tousled or polished and still be on trend.

Any advice for someone considering it?

Someone considering this cut should know that it does take styling and product to achieve the beachy curl look. Having a fringe also requires maintenance such as a frequent bang trim and styling in the morning. But, the great thing about this look is that it is versatile. It can be polished or messy and once styled, and with each day thereafter of unwashed hair, it only gets better! If worn straight, this look goes for more of a shaggy textured feel.

As for the color, it is a base, babylight, and balayage combo. Once the color is achieved it grows out beautifully and makes for less frequent visits to the salon for color.

24. Soft Layers with Movement

A fun shag with soft layers and movement

Instagram @ashleybigfun

Q&A with style creator, Ashley Brown

Stylist / Editorial Director @ X: Cultivate Studio in Philadelphia, PA

How would you describe this look?

I would describe this look as soft layers with a lot of movement.

My favorite thing about this look and all shags are their wearability. They grow out still looking gorgeous and they also give people that extra volume in the crown and around their face that they are always looking for. This client was the sweetest she said, “I never knew my hair could do this.”

Any advice for someone considering it?

Shags are great for all different face types. I just adjust the length of the layers and fringe to what flatters the client the most.

It is also super easy to style. Just add some sea salt spray and you’re good to go! This look is perfect for people who want a stylish look but also want to stay low maintenance.

25. Effortless Textured Shag Haircut

Effortless and wearable texture shag

Instagram @carlyraecoady

Q&A with style creator, Carly Rae Coady

Stylist @ Local Honey in East Nashville, TN

How would you describe this look?

This look is all about effortless, wearable texture. The longer, shaggy fringe has a low commitment, low maintenance wearability that’s perfect for anyone wanting to dabble with a fringe.

This is a soft take on the shag with a strong perimeter and loose, shaggy surface layers and a shattered face frame.

Any advice for someone considering it?

The modern shag is perfect for those who have grown out a bob but want to change the shape as it continues to grow long. This cut is also perfect for those wanting a medium length, but with a completely different and versatile shape. This cut works for any texture as it is an effortless-looking style. You can alter the fringe to be more Brigitte Bardot-inspired, or even longer like in this image.

The best products for this look would be a good salt spray (R+Co Sail is my current go-to) and a great finishing texturizer (R+Co Badlands or ORIBE Dry Texture Spray) to create movement in the style.

26. Modern Chocolate Brown Shag

A modern shag with chocolate brown hair color

Instagram @pingpaintshair

Q&A with style creator, Ping Muangmingsuk

Stylist @ Ping Paints Hair in Indianapolis, IN

How would you describe this look?

This is a modern shag. The layers are more fluid and less defined and the overall look is less mullet-like.

My favorite thing about this look is that it’s super versatile. My client’s hair is very thick and this cut allows movement and an airy feel for her.

Any advice for someone considering it?

This shag look is very different curled verses straight. I feel like it can be tailored to different face shapes, so there really isn’t anyone that can’t have this cut. It’s a little hard to put into a ponytail with all the face framing layers, so clients that need their hair out of their face might not want to go this shaggy.

The messy curls are obviously some work to do, but the pros of this cut include just curling the top layers. The bottom layers are usually too short to be seen anyways. Simply finish with some texture spray at the root and all over!

27. Layered Shag with Blonde Highlights

An on-point layered shag with blonde highlights

Instagram @thairapybyheather

Q&A with style creator, Heather Mancias-Wright

Owner / Stylist @ Thairapy by Heather in Round Rock, TX

How would you describe this look?

I would describe this look as a modern shag. I love that it’s fun, playful and easy to wear. It is very versatile.

Any advice for someone considering it?

This cut is perfect for fine hair seeking volume with the shorter layers. You could wear this cut softer as a wash and wear, or piece it out using product like I did here. I used the Lanza Healing Hair Plumper and Lanza Healing Brilliant Texture. All of the layers would also be great for some messy waves!

28. Black Shag with Bangs

A stylish shag with bangs and black hair

Instagram @cosmic_nikki

Q&A with style creator, Nikki Williams

Level 2 Stylist / Makeup Artist @ Soda Salon in Roswell, GA

How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?

I would describe this look as a medium length modern shag with texture and a heavy, face framing fringe. The face framing is my favorite!

What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?

Use Eufora’s Full Effect texture spray for body and Eufora’s Sea Spritz for a piecey finish.

What type of client would you recommend this look for?

I recommend this look for someone who is willing to take the time to fix their bangs. Other than that, it’s an easy breezy look! All you have to do is a few wraps around a curling wand/iron and add a spritz of texture spray you’re ready to go.

This look can work for fine or thick hair types as long as your stylist can take the weight out on the ends or add volume around the crown where it’s needed. It works well with oblong or heart shaped faces by bringing focus to the cheekbones.

29. Piecey Shag for an Oval Face Shape

A marvelous piecey medium length shag for an oval face shape

Instagram @rhyantownsend

Q&A with style creator, Rhyan Townsend

Hair and Makeup Artist @ Rhyan Townsend Hair & Makeup in Arroyo Grande, CA

How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?

I would describe this look as effortless, stylish and sexy. I love that this cut retains the volume of the hair, but still has a piecey edginess to it. It feels a bit rebellious, but in a pretty way.

What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?

I used all IGK products to create this look. I just recently started using this label and am loving everything about it! I started by cleansing the hair with 30,000 Feet Volume Shampoo + Conditioner. Before the blow dry, I applied a quarter-sized amount of IGK’s Car Service Blow Out Balm for memory and volume at the crown. This product has a great workability and doesn’t make the hair feel stiff or over textured.

I blow dried the hair with a flat brush, except in the crown area where I used a large round brush to pump up the volume and add some bounce. I then curled the hair with a 1 1/4-inch curling iron, starting one inch from the roots and leaving out the last inch of ends. The hair from the ear forward was curled away from the face and the rest of the hair was curled in alternating directions. Adding texture and curl to this look is imperative because it keeps it looking modern and not too 70s shag-like.

Once all the hair was curled, I used my fingers to separate the curls and sprayed a few pieces with IGK’s Beach Club Texture Spray for a lived-in, rockstar feel.

What type of client would you recommend this look for?

The layering in this cut adds a softness that works well on all face shapes. The length of the cut shown here is great for a round or oval face shape. For someone with a longer face shape, I would suggest making the cut a bit shorter.

The great thing about this shaggy look is that it’s meant to look undone and effortless, therefore it’s perfect for ladies with wavy/curly hair if they want to air dry and go, or the straight-haired gal that doesn’t mind rough drying and adding a little bend and texture with a curling iron.

Layering the hair does remove weight, so I would not recommend this cut for someone with fine hair.

30. Chic Shag with Wispy Bangs

A chic shag with wispy bangs

Instagram @hairbyalexiaxo

Q&A with style creator, Alexia Duryea

Stylist @ Michael Thomas Hair Design in Naples, FL

How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?

I would describe this look as a modern-chic shag. This hairstyle is full of textured long layers that add volume and movement, while the ends of the hair are point cut to appear more choppy and not too uniform.

My favorite thing about this look is that it always starts trending around fall (my favorite time of year). You can dress this look up or down by adding a blunt short fringe or a long textured fringe.

What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?

To recreate this look, start by using Redken’s Beach Envy Volume Texturizing shampoo and conditioner. Apply Pureology’s Color Fanatic to the hair while damp to detangle and protect from heat.

Style the fringe first as desired, then blow dry the hair using a large round brush for maximum volume in the crown area. Lightly mist Redken’s Fashion Waves on the hair once it’s blow dried to help create texture while styling. Use a 1 1/2-inch curling iron to add waves in the hair, alternating directions in each section and leaving the ends of the hair out.

Once the hair is all curled, run your fingers through the waves to create a messy bedhead look. Remember this is supposed to look effortless and undone! Finish the style using Redken’s Fashion Work #12 hairspray for a light hold.

What type of client would you recommend this look for?

I recommend this style for any lifestyle on the go! The perfect candidate for this hairstyle is someone with a square, heart or a round face shape. It’s best if you have wavy or straight, coarse to fine hair. Adding long, soft, blunt bangs would look best on someone who has an oval face shape.

Hot tip: Someone who has a lot of dimensional colors in their hair would absolutely love this texturized layering. This gives everyone their own unique look!

31. Lengthy Shag Cut with Rooted Blonde

The greatest shaggy rooted blonde hair color

Instagram @caleighmoriahhair

Q&A with style creator, Caleigh Giarra

Hairstylist/Balayage Specialist @ Haven Hair Co. in Nashville, TN

How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?

I would describe this look as a shaggy rooted blonde. I love to keep some depth in a bright blonde, so doing a little shadow root is a go-to for me.

My favorite thing about this look would have to be the bangs. They perfectly tie together this edgy shag.

What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?

I recommend a texture spray, and/or a matte pomade. The products in particular that I used to style this look were Kevin Murphy’s Bedroom.Hair texture spray and Nightrider pomade.

What type of client would you recommend this look for?

I recommend this style for anyone that likes to have a little fun with their hair or likes an edgier look. I would also recommend this style for someone with medium to thick hair, as it wouldn’t create an issue to take heavy sections for bangs/shorter layers.

As far as the color goes, as long as you’re able to embrace some darker roots, I truly think that warm blonde tones look fantastic with any skin tone.

32. Face Framing Shag for Straight Hair

An awesomely face-framing shag cut for straight hair

Instagram @bekahdoesmyhair

Q&A with style creator, Rebekah Cunningham

Hairstylist @ The Sanctuary Salon in Fairhope, AL

How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?

The shag is the chameleon of cuts, transitioning from work to play seamlessly while also being universally flattering. This low maintenance haircut always looks good.

The shag is designed to show off natural hair texture. It exudes effortless style and edge with its face-framing fringe and free falling layers. It is made for those who seek a low effort, high style look.

What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?

The shag is defined by its strong perimeter and free movement layers. This cut will come across as put together in the way a great manicure does. For those with straight hair, this is a great option. With volume and texture defining products, your hair will finally feel like it has some personality and doesn’t have to just hang there anymore!

I really love R+Co hair care at the moment. Use Mannequin paste for the mid-lengths in towel dried hair for texture. Badlands dry shampoo is a fantastic finisher, creating big lift at the roots while combating dull, flat and dirty hair.

Those with curls unite! This cut was made to let those bouncy curls dance. By releasing weight in the layers, an opportunity is created for your curls to show off. No more flat roots with heavy curls only at the ends. Use R+Co Twister curl primer in combination with Free Way if you have fine hair texture. If you have coarse hair, layer Twister with High Dive and Air Craft pomade followed by a diffuser for extra lift and volume. You can also air dry for a less dramatic, relaxed feel.

What type of client would you recommend this look for?

This cut is a great choice for most hair types. The shag releases weight from the interior with layers creating movement and volume while building weight around the face and creating a “frame”. Having this frame around face creates the opportunity to tailor this cut to each individual face shape.

This cut on a square shaped face would call for the face-framing fringe at natural fall to soften the square edges of the jawline. A round face would benefit from leaving the length long, thus elongating the face. A diamond shape beckons for an extra wide bang that will create width at the top, giving the illusion of an oval shape. For a small forehead, begin with layers starting at the tip of the nose and wing back the layers to open up your facial features. I love this cut so much for its versatility, low effort, and high style reward.

33. Face Contouring Shag

face-contouring-shag-haircut

Style by Susanne Dellge, Makeup by Betty Mekonen, Goertz Hair, Braunschweig, Germany

This shag haircut has really short layers throughout that are shorter in front and not as short in the back. The really short face framing layers in the front give the haircut an illusion of even shorter layers that open up the face horizontally and make it appear wider.

The chic horizontal fringe extends past the eyebrows to open the face up even more. Having the fringe covering the forehead also covers up part of the face, making it appear shorter and wider.

How To Style:

  1. Apply a styling product to damp hair.
  2. Blow dry the hair with a styling brush.
  3. Smooth the hair with a flat iron.
  4. Apply a product for shine.

Recommended Products:

Alterna’s Bamboo Kendi Dry Oil Micromist Spray gives the hair weightless shine and controls frizz.

Best Face Shape and Hair Type:

Long face shapes with hair that is thick in density and medium to coarse in texture will suit this hairstyle best.

34. Light Brown with Highlights

shag-haircut-with-long-layers

Style by Shantell Nunez, Elon Salon, Marietta, GA

Since this trendy shag has longer layers, it will have texture and movement without losing too much volume from the hair.

How To Style:

  1. Apply a styling product to damp hair.
  2. Blow dry the hair with a large round brush.
  3. Smooth the hair away from the face using a flat iron.
  4. Set the style with a flexible hold spray.

Recommended Products:

Alterna’s Bamboo Anti-Breakage Thermal Protectant Spray smooths, repairs and protects hair from heat styling tools up to 428 F.

Best Face Shape and Hair Type:

All face shapes with hair that is medium in texture and density will suit this hairstyle best.

This shag haircut is layered from top to bottom. This type of layering removes weight not just on the surface of the hair, but also on the ends. This is why the model’s ends have a light, piecey textured look.

How To Style:

  1. Apply a styling product to damp hair.
  2. Blow dry the hair with a styling brush.
  3. Smooth the hair with a flat iron.
  4. Apply a product for texture.
  5. Set the style with a flexible hold hairspray.

Recommended Products:

Caviar Perfect Texture Spray gives the hair texture and fullness that is both brushable and buildable.

Best Face Shape and Hair Type:

With the fringe, this haircut works best for wider face shapes with hair that is high in density and medium to coarse in texture. Without the fringe, it will work on any face shape.

36. Red and Orange Shag

modern-shag-haircut-with-disconnected-layers

Style by Robin Cook, Makeup by Candice Holloway, Tangles Salon, Wichita Falls, TX

These layers in this cut and even its perimeter are a lot shorter in the front compared the back. The cut even has some disconnected shorter layers at the temple on one side. This modern shag hairstyle is worn with a very deep side part, giving it a trendy asymmetric look.

How To Style:

  1. Apply a styling product to damp hair.
  2. Blow dry the hair with a styling brush.
  3. Smooth the hair and add some texture by adding some bend to the hair using a flat iron.
  4. Apply a product for texture.
  5. Set with a flexible hold spray.

Recommended Products:

Caviar Perfect Texture Spray gives the hair texture and fullness that is both brushable and buildable.

Best Face Shape and Hair Type:

37. Wild Shaggy Hair

shag-haircut-with-disconnected-layers

Style by Kaylen O’Brien, Makeup by Candice Holloway, Tangles Salon, Wichita Falls, TX

This shag has a lot of disconnected layers and is layered all the way down to the ends. This gives the hair a lot of texture and movement and removes a lot of its weight/density. Volume could be styled into it, but if worn wash-and-wear style, the hair will skinny, which is perfect for people with so much hair.

How To Style:

  1. Apply a styling product to damp hair.
  2. Blow dry the hair with a styling brush.
  3. Smooth the hair and add some texture by adding some bend to the hair using a flat iron.
  4. Apply a product for texture and volume.
  5. Set with a flexible hold spray.

Recommended Products:

Bamboo Uplifting Hair spray gives hair volume at the roots when sprayed on dry hair. Caviar Perfect Texture Spray gives the hair texture and fullness that is both brushable and buildable.

Best Face Shape and Hair Type:

All face shapes with hair that is high in density and medium to coarse in texture will suit this hairstyle best.
